According to the latest statistics, the amount of time people spend on their smartphones around the world continues to increase. Here’s the latest data from 2022 (source).
- On average, people spend 3 hours and 15 minutes on their phones per day.
- Individuals check their phones an average of 58 times each day.
- 1 in 5 smartphone users spends upwards of 4.5 hours on average on their phones every day.
- Weekdays average more smartphone use than weekends.
- 3 in 4 Gen Zers claim to spend too much time on their smartphones.
- Across the day, the mean time spent on a smartphone per pick-up is around 1 minute 15 seconds.
- By 2027, there are expected to be 7.69 billion smartphone subscriptions - just 200 million shy of the current global population.
It’s a smart move to reach your customers on their phone, but it must be done with finesse. If you send too many email campaigns, they’ll end up in a spam folder, and your domain will be blacklisted. That can have catastrophic consequences for a business. In addition, sending too many irrelevant text messages will get your number blocked by individual users and perhaps by the carrier itself.
